The inside power game within the distraught Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has taken a new dimension as the National Headquarters of the Party led by Adamu Muazu is poised for a showdown with the Supervising Minister of Education over his recent moves to stop any plans by the National Exco of the Party to change the present leadership of the party led by Felix Obuah.

Inside sources who wouldn’t want to be mentioned spilled to Naijas Report that the Minister has been ordered to vacate the Court Order he obtained through a surrogate, Chukwuemeka Aaron, the PDP Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA from a High Court presided over by Justice Evoh Chukwu.

SR: Suspended CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi, Responds To Allegations Of Financial Recklessness

The suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has issued a statement responding to allegations of financial recklessness leveled against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and the Nigerian presidency.

In the lengthy statement distributed to the media early this morning, Mr. Sanusi denied any wrongdoing, saying  he had already sent a detailed response to the presidency.

I am compelled to make this public statement to address the various allegations levied against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and cited as the reasons for my suspension from office as the Governor of the CBN on the 19th of February 2014.

As a matter of record, the allegations were made in the following documents:

i.    Briefing Note of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) dated 7th June 2013, Ref: PRES/188/T&I/89 to His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan [the Briefing Note];

ii.    The Letter of Suspension dated 19th February 2014, which I received from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and

iii.    The petition dated 9th February 2014 by Mr. Erastus Akingbola.

However, before I go into the above issues, let me reiterate for the records, the achievements of the CBN during my tenure as the Governor: The Record>>>>

President Jonathan’s N9bn jet develops technical problem in Minna

It was a confused and atmosphere of disbelief for President Jonathan and some top government officials yesterday Saturday March 8th escaped as an air mishap at the Minna Airport, Niger State, was avoided when a presidential jet developed a technical fault, while they were aboard, Punch reports. 

The presidential jet, Nigerian Air Force 001 (5N-FGT), had earlier conveyed Jonathan to Minna for the -Peoples Democratic Party’s North-Central rally which held at the Trade Fair Centre, Minna.

At the end of the rally, the President returned to the airport in company with top government officials, PDP state governors and party chiefs for a trip to Sokoto, from where he was scheduled to return to Abuja.

However, several minutes after Jonathan had bade farewell to those who accompanied him to the airport, and the door of the aircraft was shut, the aircraft failed to move.

"PDP is Nigeria and Nigeria is PDP"- Mu’azu

Over the weekend, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, was in Minna alongside President Goodluck Jonathan. 

During the unity rally organized by the PDP north central zone, Mu'azu urged Nigerians to keep supporting the PDP, he said the party had brought about positive changes to Nigeria and Nigerians in the past 14 years.

"We know PDP is Nigeria and Nigeria is PDP",he said.

President Jonathan on his part added that PDP remained the only party that was yet to change its slogan, logo or name since its formation in 1998. 

"I don't have accounts or property abroad"- Pres. Jonathan declares

President Jonathan made this remark during the swearing-in of the 11 new ministers on Wednesday March 5th. He wouldn't lie about something like this, would he? So that's good to hear. But does any one believes this? Past leaders said the same when they were in power. lets wait until 2016 or 2020 as the case may be. Up to you readers!

Again, Boko Haram Struck In Borno Killing Dozens And Destroying Several Properties

Boko Haram terror group struck again on Sunday March 2nd in Borno state in Mafa Local Government area, a border community between chad and cameroon, killing scores of people.

According to residents in the area, the merchants of death came into Mafa town using Hilux Toyota vans armed with AK47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED’s ), Rocket Propelled Launchers, petrol bombs and opened fire on residents who were asleep, which led to at least 33 people being killed, with several injured, and property worth millions of Naira destroyed. Amaechi-Led NGF Exposes Plans By The Presidency To Impeach Al-makura

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by Governor Rotimi Ameachi, during their meeting on monday accused the Presidency of plotting the impeachment of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Mallam Tanko Almakura. 

A four-paragraph communique of the meeting was read by Chairman of the Forum, who is the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. The communique read:

“It has come to our notice that the Presidency is plotting to illegally impeach the Governor of Nasarawa State, Mr. Tanko Al-Makura. We condemn this renewed assault on constitutional democracy.”

This has been another week of political brouhaha in Nigeria as the owners of the long knives moved in and cut the dagger’s man, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, into shreds. SLS, as he’s fondly called by friends and foes, had committed one of those commonest mistakes in warfare, and it is a useful lesson for all. I hope Jonathan and his warlords thought through the repercussions before they took on Sanusi two days ago. The reason I say that is simple to guess. It is always difficult to fight a man who is not afraid to die.

By singing like a canary against the government he was serving, he should have known that he had grabbed a tiger by the tail and been ready for a battle royale.

Consequently, President Jonathan met top officials of NNPC on Thursday in closed-door meeting.

Nigerians Reacts Angrily To US Criticisms Over Gay Laws

Nigerians yesterday reacted angrily to US criticisms of the country over the anti-same sex bill signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, Monday, saying that Nigeria will not become the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah in the name of human rights.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, the umbrella association of all Northern socio-political organisations, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF; Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria, NCSN; Adada Media Forum, ADF; Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI;   and some individuals including, Senator Rowland Owie condemned the US attack on Nigeria over the same sex marriage law.>>>>

Tukur, PDP Chairman Has Not Resigned---Oliver Opkala

The embattled chairman of Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has not resigned, his Special Adviser on Media, Prince Oliver Okpala, said in a statement on Tuesday. Earlier reports had said that Tukur resigned today.

“Be informed that contrary to the report making waves in the internet and other social media, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has not tendered any resignation letter to any person or quarter as the National Chairman of the Party.
