Alhaji
Aliko Dangote has donated a Mobile Clinic Medical Van for maternal and child
care to the Clara Oshiomhole Foundation in memory of the late first lady of Edo
State Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole.
Speaking
at the commissioning of the facility in Benin City at the weekend, the special
guest of honour and the Managing Director, Dangote Group of companies, Alhaji
Aliko Dangote said the mobile clinic van is to sustain the legacy of the first
lady of Edo Sate, late Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole>>>
He said “the number of people in dare need of
medical service in the rural area were many, and in support of the Comrade
Oshiomhole programmes not only in education, but also in the health sector and to sustain the
legacy of the wife, three additional mobile vans will be purchased in support
of the Foundation.”
He
thanked Governor Oshiomhole for the support shown to the children in spite of
the busy schedule and urged the children of the late first lady of the state to
sustain the ideals of the Foundation.
On
his part, Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole commended the chairman
of the foundation, Mr. Victor Eboigbe for his untiring effort in organizing the
event, stressing that it’s purely outside government arrangement.
He
said “the health Foundation for Maternal and Child care (HEFMAC) is consistent
with the commitment of delivering the benefits of healthcare service for the
greater good of the people”.
Governor Oshiomhole described his late wife,
Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole as a lovely woman who stood by him in his trying periods.
He
maintained that no matter how many hospitals people build, they should try and
device means to reach people at the
rural areas, stressing that the “Clara Oshiomhole Foundation has carried out
free medical treatment for people in Ewohimi in Esan Central Local Government
Area.”
In
an address, the eldest daughter of the late first Lady, DR.(Mrs.) Winnie Adams
Owunmi said “Health Foundation for Maternal and Child Care HEFMAC, (Clara
Oshiomhole Foundation) was established to provide life enhancing services to
people in need.”
She
however lamented the challenge facing the Foundations which include “lack of
fund that inevitably limited the activities of the foundation to only one
senatorial district”.
Dr.
Mrs. Owumi expressed their determination to overcome the challenges and achieve
the dream of its founder which she said “goes beyond its present scope”.
The
week long free medical treatment for the people of Ewohimi was aimed at
commemorating the 3rd year anniversary of Late Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole who died
on the 7th of December, 2010.
