Keep Your 1986 Calendars - The Dates Are Same As 2014 Dates!

If you still have a 1986 calendar, wondering if you'll ever be able to use it again, the answer is … yes.

That's because the dates in 1986 and 2014 match up exactly. Jan.  1 back then fell on a Wednesday, just like this year, and both years had 28 days in February.

In fact, 1986 calendars are quite popular on eBay now. You can find vintage Rambo and Hulk Hogan calendars as well as pop stars from the last like Nena, Supertramp, Bryan Adams and, then as now, Madonna.

Of course, everything in 1986 wasn't the same as today. After all, Ronald Reagan was president of the United States and Elizabeth II was Queen of England – oh wait, she's still queen, right?

Overall, 1986 wasn't the best of years. The Challenger space shuttle exploded and the Chernobyl power station in Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union) failed.>>>>

On a more positive note, it was the first year of a federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr. In North Carolina, it was the year the Smith Center opened at the University of North Carolina and the year Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski played in his first national title game, losing to Louisville.

In politics, Democrat Terry Sanford beat Republican Jim Broyhill for a Senate seat in the last election Sanford win.

Also of note that year, Rafael Nadal, Lady Gaga and Lindsay Lohan were born.

If you're one to plan ahead, Christmas falls Thursday this year, and New Year's Eve is on a Wednesday.

Of course, if you still have your 1986 calendar, you already knew that.
